Nicolina Torres

Writer - Mystery, Horror, Fantasy

Prior to her work as a writer, Nicolina Torres was a manager for Barnes & Noble for 15 years and represented B&N on Channel 2’s Living Dayton Show for two years. She has been employed at the law firm The Furnier Muzzo Group for nine years. She has worked with the National Association of Attorneys with Disabilities (NAAD) on mentorship projects and is a member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association. Nikki’s mystery novel, This Red Fire was a 2017 Launch Pad Manuscript Competition Top 10 pick. Greg Silverman’s Stampede Ventures optioned the book for a film franchise, with Freddie Skov brought on to write the script. Nikki’s dystopian novel Young Nation received an honorable mention in the same contest.

Her collection of short horror stories (Women in the Woods and Other Stories) is also being developed as a series, and her short story “Hell, Hull or Halifax” has been optioned by EMJAG Productions. Her short story “Sharp Teeth” has been optioned by Exile Content Studio. She has been published in the Deception Anthology (“Aunt Dorothy in the Canoe”). Nikki was a mentor for the 2021 Tracking Board Launch Pad Prose Competition. She is represented by Zoe Sandler at ICM Partners and Katrina Escudero at Sugar23.

Nikki’s favorite authors are Ray Bradbury, Stephen King, Michael Chabon, Stephen Graham Jones, and Shirley Jackson, and her favorite books are The Complete Sherlock Holmes and The October Country. She is first generation American on her father’s side—her paternal family lives in Santiago, Chile. When not reading or writing, she’s watching bad vintage horror movies and cooking comfort food. She lives out in farm country and is “Aunt Nini” to a young niece and nephew.
